Adoption Process The A.R.W.O.B. group prides itself oncarefully placing animals into responsible and loving homes. We careabout the present and future of the lives of the many unwanted dogs andcats and strive to improve their lives for them to know stability, loveand safety. Our adoption procedure is as follows: 1) Adoption Application filed by applicant (visit the applications page to fill one out!) We adopt dogs & cats to individuals or families located inthe San Diego/Southern California areas. If one of our dogs or cats interestsyou and you would like to consider adopting, please fill out thecorresponding application. An ARWOB volunteer reviews your applicationbefore proceeding to the next step in the process.
PLEASE NOTE: We have implemented a new policy for those that are currently in the military. IF YOU ARE IN THE MILITARY please fill out a short questionnaire in addition to the adoption application. Military Questionnaire 2) A play date between applicant and rescue (dog or cat) - An applicant MUST have an online adoption application filled out before scheduling a playdate through the phone or email. If you do not have an application on file, your play date request will be IGNORED. This will ensure that the applicant and the dog/cat they areinterested in is a perfect match. It is important to access thedog/cat's personality and temperament before adoption, so as to avoidreturns and relinquishments. If the dog/cat does not possess thequalities and behavioral traits the applicant is looking for, we willcontinue the adoption process by meeting another one of our rescueddogs or cats.
3) Home checks to ensure the safety of our rescues An ARWOB volunteer will contact you upon approval of yourapplication (and the playdate appointment) to schedule a visit to your home. Here we will take a look at where the cat/dog will be living. If your home appears safe and secure, we can go ahead and sign the adoption contract.
4) Adoption Contract and ID from applicant If we approve of your home and believe our rescued dog/cat will live happily there, we will go ahead and sign the adoption contract which makes the adoption official.
5) Adoption fee Fees are different for both dogs and cats and of different ages as well. Please visit the adoption fee page for a breakdown of all the fees for each animal and their ages.
