Meet Tessa!
Tessa was rescued by a different rescue when she was a young adult from the streets of tijuana. Unfortunately, that was about 2 years ago!!!
Her rescuer is losing her home and they posted on social media requesting help with the dogs under their care. ARWOB heard about the rescuer's plea for help with her dogs and we were able to help with 3 adults. We don't have foster help so we would LOVE to find a foster or adopter ASAP to get her out of boarding and out of our little headquarters because we have so many dogs already. It seemed Tessa had not been shown at adoption events from the other group for a year and not networked properly so this poor girl had been stuck for almost 2 years in the same home. She hasn't experienced much and had some limited exercise so she is a little chunky but now we are making sure she gets some good playtime with other dogs to get a few lbs off. She is really a great gal, typical lab with SO MUCH HEART she sees fantastic with all dogs and people, she certainly needs dog training because she is just a goofy happy silly girl with energy to burn out.
Tessa has been with ARWOB since 9/27 and what we have learned about her is she is a social loving dog; she will instantly be friendly and outgoing when she meets new people and aside from loving she also loves to have fun! Playing/exercising is her favorite thing. She gets along well with Daisy and Cooper 2 other large breed dogs we exited from that group/house. We are introducing her to other dogs and doing great. She does play like a puppy so anyone looking to adopt a young adult with puppy happiness, this is your girl!
This poor girl has endured a lot and we are hoping we can find someone who can offer her some stability and lots of LOVE. The best ideal home for her would be someone with a yard OR someone who is already active and planning on enjoying exercise with her BUT most importantly enroll in dog training classes since she has never had that and like any young adult and medium breed with medium energy level SHOULD have the basics down to be a great dog for life, also to help socialize on leash/off leash, around different people and dogs.
While she was staying with the other rescue she spends time inside the home with many other dogs from females to males both small chihuahua size and Labrador size from puppies to seniors and did well. She has not lived with cats and we will update her if we expose her to cats but for now an adopter ideally has no small creatures but we will update this if information changes (10/6/22)
She is crate trained and is not completely house trained but doing well with a scheduled and consistent potty schedule.
Would you like to meet this beauty and help us provide her a safe, stable, loving foster or adoptive home?
If you are interested in this sweetheart, please complete an online application at www.arwob.org. Don’t wait!
We typically only have adoption events once a month at the petsmart in clairemont 92117 but we can schedule meet and greets any day of the week as soon as we receive an adoption application, review it and set up a phone call interview, if approved we would love to move fwd to set up a meet in the 92117 and adoption can happen the same day of the meets. However, we don't place holds on rescues which means, please DO NOT submit an application to adopt if not ready to schedule a meet and greet within the week of submit an interest in adopting
We are also able to offer Foster to Adopt trials, please request it during the phone interview or application submission. Most of our rescuers need a foster so if not sure about committing to adopt, just committing to foster would also help them/us A LOT.
THANKY YOU!
