Uma.

Uma is an adorable baja mutt, which means we don't know her breed. We say she is pit/chi mix because of her physical looks, she has a face of a pit in a very dainty small yet sturdy body. If you are not opposed to the bully breed and are interested in a small breed. then submit an application TODAY for this girl. Uma is currently staying at casa de ARWOB where she is cared by her human Alondra and several other foster dogs and cats. Uma is wonderful with humans. We don't know if she has a history of living around or with children when she was younger but since she was found in the streets of Baja she likely had several exposures to children. When on park walks she encounters children without any issue or hesitation. She is dog friendly. She lives with cats but is best a home with NO cats, actually even birds and small pocket pets as she is very enthusiastic when she sees crows, seagulls, etc. Uma would be an AMAZING agility dog, running, jumping, etc. She can jump pretty high when is excited like feeding time or has not seeing you in a while (think of Tigger of Winnie the pooh on a pogo stick) YET she acts like she needs help to get into the back seat when going on car rides or trying to get on the sofa (eye roll, lol)
We consider Uma a medium/moderate energy dog, however, she CAN be high energy dog. When she is active she is ACTIVE but she can be very calm especially during crate time, she is not antsy or impatient and can just relax in her dog bed with a nice toy or ball. She LIVES to fetch. She can go on for a while and a great way to get her exercised. She will bring ball back and drop it at home or at the park. She can share toys with dogs and has not shown resource guarding, that is, as long as a dog is not actively trying to take a toy like her ball she is currently using (no dog should ever do that of course) Uma is a pretty cute, stunning to some, small and large breed together is a great combo for someone who wants a small dog but will TRAIN as a strong dog should always have manners. Uma is a bit of a easy gentle soul with a strong active streak when romping around with dog friends and being active. She has gone to a couple of dog parks both fences and unfenced. She listens to her caretaker. Does great in car rides, not a vocal dog at all but can have a BIG bark if she does bark. Good on walks has not shown any leash reactivity.

The best adopter for Uma can have a home with yard or apartment, however, we are looking for someone who will take dog training seriously so she can be a wonderful dog the rest of her life. The biggest mistake dog owners make are NOT enrolling in dog training. If you do not believe in dog training and think you can do it on your own by watching you tube videos and without the guidance of a profesional we recommend you do not submit adoption applications for active or energetic smart dogs. Dog training is not to train the dogs but more so to guide and educate their humans to be better leaders. Uma is amazing and we would like her to stay equal or be BETTER.

Meet and greets are scheduled in the 92110 zip code once a dog adoption application has been approved. In order to approve an application you need to submit the application online at ARWOB.org and a volunteer will text or email to schedule a call right away to finish processing your application in the hopes of scheduling a meet ASAP.  Have questions?
