Bella

Bella was adopted in January 2024 and her adoptive dad sent us a cute "pupdate" about her:

"Bella is awesome. She is bonding greatly with both of us now. You will see how rough she has it in the attached photos. LOL! We had to take in her daughter and 2 grandchildren for a couple months so Bella has had to learn to be around children. That's going good. She is excellent on the leash. Without the leash, she stays right beside me. In a controlled environment though. Not ready to try it out of that yet. No rush. She is still skiddish around others, especially men, but my stepdad and brother in law are patiently working to gain her trust. Because of my Mom, we take the pups with us to see her and give them a break from the kids, here and there. She travels very well. Last, she, sort of, found her bark. We had a possum on the back wall a couple of weeks ago. It was a staring contest, up until the possum moved on down the wall to the neighbors yards. Then she felt safe enough to bark at it at that time. LOL! It was the "big brave watchdog" then. It was cute."

Binky

Maggie (fka Binky) was adopted in January 2024.  Her adoptive mom shared this "pupdate" with us:

"Our pup Maggie (former Binky) is doing great. We love her so much. Maggie has truly been a blessing in our lives. In February we unexpectedly lost our previous rescue dog, Chewey he was only 7 years old. It was very traumatic for us as he was our very first furbaby. I am so thankful and grateful we adopted Maggie when we did in January and that she got to know our previous pup Chewey for a bit. They got along and played well together. We miss him a lot but Maggie has been our saving grace. I couldn’t imagine getting through this tragic event without her by our sides. She has been quite a comfort for myself and fiancee as we process our grief. It always feel likes Maggie was sent to us at the perfect timing because to be honest after losing Chewey I think it would have taken me a lot longer to adopt another dog and I don’t know how I would feel about coming home to a quiet and dog less house.  I was starting to shop around for dog training places. I actually would possibly like to have her to the AKC puppy/ good dog training classes. I think Maggie would be an excellent therapy dog. I want to try and do that with her. I teach children with special needs so I think it would be cool if Maggie could possibly become a therapy dog. She is very playful and smart and seems treat motivated. I have taught her sit and shake so far. Her leash skills are getting better. We have been on some walks to the park and she has been great with kids and meeting other dogs. We are so thankful and grateful to have adopted Maggie! She is the best little girl. We love her so much."

Betty

Beautiful Beatrix (fka Betty) was adopted a year ago back in February 2023.  Her adoptive mom kindly shared this recent update with us.  Bea is certainly enjoying life with her family!

"We adopted Beatrix, formerly Betty, from you guys a year ago, and she is thriving and friendlier and snugglier than ever. Thanks again!"

Brain

Enzo (fka Brain) was adopted in December 2023.  We received a very nice "pupdate" about this little guy.  He's living his best life!

"Brain is now named Enzo and is as adorable as possible. He has grown some and loves his new brother Bowie (3 yr old 36 pounder) and sister Moon (8 yr old 18 pounder). He plays up a storm all day and loves our beach walks the most. Our plan is to get him into training sessions in February."

Billie

We received the sweetest “pupdate” about Mama Billie (mama to Pinky & The Brain ) who was adopted in October 2023. We could not be happier for her! The family met her during the October Mega Adoption event hosted by San Diego Animal Support Foundation and picked her up a week later once the process was finalized. Here is what her adoptive family had to say about Billie, who is now known as Millie:

“Just a big fat thank you for Billie, what a wonderful little girl. We sent your organization some gently used leashes and a couple of harnesses plus the ones you lent us when we took Billie home. She, is very smart, she is house trained, and comes tells me when she needs to go out. She now walks very well on a leash, and sits when I stop. She has learned a few hand signals, sit down, and loves our two cats. She loves chasing them until they have had enough, then she learns to back away real quick, normally running for one of our laps. She really loves her stuffed animal, and the winner...her balls. We did also take her to the veterinarian and came away with the same thing as your veterinarian, about two years old and very healthy, and on the last note....her hair is really growing and looking great. I gave her a bath the other day, she was really good. We can't thank you enough, she has made this a happy home. Thank you for...Billie....now known as Millie, a real sweetheart.”
