We received a "pupdate" about Odie (fka Mocha) who was adopted in September 2022. Here is what his adoptive mom has to say about him:
"Odie (formerly Mocha) has settled in here very nicely (pictured sleeping with his ball), and he’s learned a lot by watching his older sister Mandy (Mandy is in the pink collar, at first that was the only way we could tell them apart)…he’s come a long way, though he still has a couple of ‘puppy’ behaviors we’re continuing to work on with him (we are the trainers). He’s getting to know the neighbors, and he’s learning who and what to bark at instead of barking at EVERYthing! We were a bit surprised when we brought him to the Vet for his first check-up in mid-September, and they told us they thought he was likely part Great Dane – but we haven’t been surprised since then, because he’s already as big as our 7-year-old Mandy!! He’s a good boy, he’s smart, and he is definitely in his forever home. Thank you for all that you do at ARWOB for these 4-legged fur babies – God bless you guys."
Sometimes miracles do happen! This rescue story is very special, not only because these two ARWOB kitties had a rough start, but because Red was adopted in April 2022 and then Rigatoni joined the same lovely family in September 2022. We just love repeat adopters! The cherry on the top is that their adoptive mom also became one of ARWOB’s lovely kitty volunteers!
Red had been rescued by a good Samaritan, who found him lying in his back yard. ARWOB was eventually contacted and we took him under our care. It was later discovered that Red had an old pelvic fracture that had somehow healed on its own. He was not a candidate for surgery at that point and it was determined he was not in pain and was able to move around on his own. Red’s adoptive mom was touched by his story and found him to be super sweet. She started a foster-to-adopt trial in March and and finalized his adoption in April.
Rigatoni also had a very rough start! He came under ARWOB’s care along with his 6 kitten siblings when they were only a few weeks old and less than 200 grams. Rigs was diagnosed with FIP in late 2021. He was successfully treated and fully recovered, thanks to the new treatment options that are now available for this condition (ARWOB was determined to help Rigatoni beat FIP and we raised funds to treat him). Rigs waited over a year to find his “purrfect” forever family and we are so glad he waited! He joined his loving family in September and now lives the good life!
Red and Rigatoni joined the household with their feline companion Mouse and their adoptive mom has said all 3 kitties are living happily together. Their adoptive mom sent us these cute photos of Red and Rigs showing how they have become BFFs over the last several months. Yup! Miracles sometimes do happen!

Will (aka Buddy) was adopted into a loving family in September 2022. His adoptive dad has sent us this wonderful "pupdate" and here's what he has to say about Buddy:
"Will "Buddy" Winn is doing great, he is growing daily, had to loosen his collar twice!! He is now potty trained (thank God), walks well on a leash, loves to play fetch, dig for grubs (brings them in house for presents), can jump on the recliner and nap with his favorite human (Kirby), chases the cat KiKi...she tolerates his advances and is getting more exercise as a result!! He loves to be outside basking in the sunshine and being watchful over his other buddies (the birds who also call our backyard home). He is up to date on his vaccinations and has been neutered (the folks at the vet in north park were great). Kirby is very happy to have Will as his little Buddy!!"
Cooper James (fka Lucas) was adopted in September 2022. He is living his best adventurous life with his adoptive mom! Check out what she has to say:
"Cooper James (formerly Lucas) has been amazing! We started the McCann Puppy training the day I brought him home. He has been amazing in the crate since night number one. He knows sit, shake, stay, down and here. Of course we are still working on consistency. Best of all, he is truly my companion. He rides on the back of my motorcycle with me in a special crate for motorcycles. He LOVES it! He has become the mascot of my Indian Motorcycle Riding group. He also loves to ride on the e-bike with me along the coast. He’s walking on a leash fairly well and he's just cutting his big boy teeth! He is a smart and sweet boy who is the best combination of chill little guy and super puppy energy! Attached are just a few pictures (of the hundreds I already have)."
