To make the most out of your time, we suggest you SUBMIT an adoption APPLICATION BEFORE an adoption event.

Check the animal attendance the morning before the event to confirm attendance of a particular rescue. In addition, please check the up-to-date animals attendance list 1 HOUR BEFORE an event to know if the dog or cat you want to meet is still attending.

Also remember to review important event information BEFORE attending.

Meet Mattie!! Mattie is an adorable little poodle/maltese mix who is looking for her forever home. She was pulled from a local San Diego shelter and has had a rather tough start in life. However, she has been making steady progress and we think in time she will blossom completely.

Mattie’s new foster mom has already noticed incredible progress in the short time she has known her. Upon first meeting Mattie she was a bit nippy and growly, but with some treats and patience, she warmed up quickly. Her new foster mom noted that Mattie rode in the car like a champ and by the time they reached their destination, they were buddies. Mattie walks on a leash quite well and when her foster mom picked her up and held her while checking in at the vet, she was very comfortable in her arms. Mattie tends to be nippy and reactive when approached too quickly, but she did allow the vet to give her a treat and another staff member to pet her. She growled when she was in the exam room and heard another dog barking, but as soon as her foster mom corrected her she stopped. At this point Mattie just needs some patience and to build up her confidence when she finds herself in new situations. Her foster mom gives her a solid B on her behavior report card.
