Meet Shylee!
***This is a courtesy post***
Shylee has had a rough start in life and we are truly hoping we can find her a special adopter that will give her the love she deserves. A good Samaritan rescued her from a parking lot and reached out to ARWOB for our help. Shylee is currently being fostered by the good Sam’s mother and she is willing to continue to foster Shylee until mid-March. She is being fostered in the San Diego area.
According to her paperwork Shylee was found in a field in Los Angeles and taken to LA County Animal Control on 2/11/18. Within the week she was adopted and kept for only a day. She was found abandoned again on February 16th in a parking lot in Vista. Her rescuer was able to contact the owner since Shylee has a valid microchip, but sadly the owner did not want her back and agreed to relinquishes her to the rescuer’s care. Shylee has been through so many hands already and has had a rough start to life. Therefore, her rescuer wants to make sure she is adopted by someone that understands the challenges that come with her.
Shylee’s rescuer is still getting to know her, so we hope to have more information as she continues to become more comfortable in her foster home. At this point, we are told that Shylee will need some basic training, such as leash training and basic commands. She currently is being kept inside the house, with access to the outside patio and is house trained -- she will whine when she needs to go outside for a potty break. Shylee is living with 2 rescue cats and doesn’t show any interest in them. She tends to be submissive and nervous around other dogs, but her rescuer has not really exposed her to too many other canines. She has not had any exposure to children, so we do not know how she might react, but she has not shown any sort of aggression toward anyone so far. Shylee is a mellow girl and she never barks. She may have been abused in the past, since she sometimes will flinch when someone first pets her.
Shylee’s foster family would like to find an adopter who is patient and willing to give her the time she needs to establish a bond and know she is safe. She might do well in a home with a fenced yard so she can have access to both the house and the yard. Since she is mellow, an elderly adopter who doesn’t expect her to be very active and playful might be a good fit.
If you are interested in giving a loving home to this sweet girl, please fill out an online application right away. We also offer foster-to-adopt programs if you would like to get to know Shylee better before making her a permanent member of your family. We believe that in time, she will learn to trust people and that her personality will blossom completely. Don’t wait, fill out an application today so that Shylee can meet you!
