Meet Vanilla, Ben and Jerry!

Note from his foster on 3/31/2020:
"I wouldn’t say hypoallergenic but he hardy sheds. I have some sensitivities to pet dander and it hasn’t been bad with him. If someone has a legit allergy then he’s likely not a good fit. If it’s more of a sensitivity then he’d be fine. "

UPDATE 3/26/2020

  • Ben is an adorable low-riding small breed with a twisty tail and the most expressive ears!  He is all puppy so will need patient adopter who is prepared to do potty training, basic training and socialization with other dogs and people. He's been doing great in his crate and sleeps through the night with minimal noises. He does shed, but not a lot - would benefit from weekly brushing. Ben would do best in a home with another dog or kids over the age of 8 to keep up with his playful personality and establish boundaries for him.

Ben is my name, and playtime is my game!  Home life is pretty great; there are toys to play with, comfy places to snooze, and lots of snacks. I love following my foster brother around, taunting him, and sneaking his toys away. My foster dad has been teaching me some new tricks, such as how to walk with a leash, sitting and waiting. He thinks I'd really enjoy training classes as I am very eager to learn, especially when treats are involved! My foster mom says I'm a busy-body because I can hardly sit still- there is just so much to explore!

My foster family is still learning things about me, but what they do know so far is that I love playing with squeaky toys, treats, walks and playing fetch. I've also discovered some stuff about myself, such as I do not like celery or rain, and that I am a big fan of sunshine and getting dirty. Though my foster family is great, I would love a forever family with another dog or some older kids for me to play and grow with. I'll need someone who can be patient with me, teach me, and laugh at my silly puppy personality!

What breed are these guys? who knows! They are baja blend adorable mutts!

Ben - must be a small terrier/poodle
Jerry- long legged, extremely curly coat and medium size teen who could be said to be a medium labradoodle type or standard poodle BUT MUCH SMALLER expected to be in the mid 30 pounds when full grown.
Vanilla - likely a poodle/terrier mix that looks much more like a medium scruffy terrier at approx 35 lbs already full grown.

All these 3 friends were rescued from a home in Tijuana when their owner moved out of the city and neighbors reported dogs left in the patio for weeks. An indie rescuer took them from yard and quarantined them for us while we vaccinated and made arrangements to transport to SD. They have never been inside dogs or have had a normal leash/outings life but currently are boarding and have learned to walk on leash and are HUGE socialites towards people and other dogs, The boys are cat frienly and Vanilla could be fine, but also has shown some interest, she could be ok with cats as long as supervised to be corrected. They sleep well in the crate BUT they (especially Ben, followed by Vanilla and sometimes Jerry) can be a bit vocal/whinny like most terriers and small breeds so a home vs apartment life may be best as well as someone who is home often with short stints outside of the home or have time/experience to help train and adjust them into a schedule at home to learn how to be home alone in their crate during day not just at night. NOT house trained and the boys are still young teens so we anticiapted still chewing stages since they love to play with toys and other dogs.

If you'd like to adopt or foster please submit a dog adoption application online @arwob.org to schedule a meet and greet in the 92117 area READY FOR ADOPTION AS SOON AS FRIDAY 3/13 ALL up to date on medical and healthy.
