UPDATE 10/14/20: Here is what Brewsky’s foster mom has to say about him:
“Brewski is really doing great! He is still very timid with new people and generally does not like to be picked up... although he is good with me. I don’t think he would be good with small children. He wouldn’t be nippy or growls but he would constantly be trying to avoid them as they move too fast. Crate training is going slow, but I’m working on it. He’s good for two hours but really cries when he goes in. He’s also been good in the car. We haven’t driven for more than 45 mins, but he’s good with that. Haven’t had the opportunity to get him around cats but I’m sure he would not be aggressive. He does fine around other smaller dogs. Next week I plan to have him with bigger dogs to see how he does. House training going great so far only two accidents all week and one was clearly my fault. He plays a little with toys. but gets bored pretty quick. He loves his bully stick, but has chewed nothing else. I wouldn’t say he’s a cuddle, but he likes to be near people and he has the sweetest disposition! He’s been doing great on the leash and looks forward to his walks each day. He has not peed or pooped on leash yet; always in my yard. Today we went on a hike. It was pretty flat, but amazingly he did 4 miles keeping up with me and often ahead!!”
ORIGINAL RESCUE STORY :
Meet Brewsky!
Brewsky and Brewster are two sibling puppies, who were relinquished to us by a family that owns their mother (a pure breed, 6-pound chihuahua), but were unable to keep the pups. ARWOB was able to get the mom spayed and we took both puppies into our adoption program.
The boys were born in late April and are currently 8 pounds, so we believe they will be in the 15-20 pound range when they are full grown. We think they look like a chiweenie/terrier mix.
The boys were a bit ignored by the family for lack of time and being that they kept them in their patio most of the time. Therefore, we are looking for a family who will be willing to socialize them with people and start dog training and house training right away. The family did have younger children, so the puppies were exposed to children. However, they can be nervous when meeting new people, both adults and kids alike, but will become comfortable after a few minutes. They are healthy, strong pups and they are good with cats. They are currently learning to be crate trained.
We will update the biographies as we get to know them better. But for now, if you would like to foster or adopt one of this boys, please submit a dog adoption application online at arwob.org
