This handsome Aussie mix was rescued from the streets of Ensenada in mid-September when a fellow indie rescuer noticed a new dog in her neighborhood. He approached her, easily took food from her, and sought her attention. She took him home and placed several pictures/flyers around to find a potential owner, but sadly there was no one inquiring about him. After a couple of weeks of no communication he was placed into rescue for adoption.
Monterey Jack is a super sweet dog from what we have noticed so far. He is not a very big dog, as he is about 33 pounds and already fully grown, but he may gain a few pounds. He is about knee height and has a full tail, although not very long.
Monterey Jack is friends with Chip and Dale, who were also just rescued from the streets of Ensenada Mexico. He seems uninterested in cats, but we are still testing him to see how he will be with kitties. He does well riding in the car and walking on leash. As he is feeling more comfortable in his foster home he will be best in a home without Cats.
Monterey Jack is super duper sweet with people, but he can be a little too focused on dogs when he first meets them, so we need an adopter who is an experienced dog handler or who is planning on enrolling him in classes where he can learn to be a well-mannered house dog. He is very food motivated, so he will need an adopter that understands dog training and socialization and can teach him the ropes. Like all Aussies, he can be an active dog, so the ideal adopter will also be able to meet his energy needs.
Because of COVID-19, sterilization appointments have been difficult to schedule. Monterey Jack will be sterilized in the 92104 North Park area of San Diego on Monday, 12/7/2020.
This means he can only be adopted to local families in the San Diego area to ensure they are able to take him to the pre-scheduled surgery appointment, and then pick him up at the end of the day after surgery. Therefore, please do NOT submit an application if you are not local to San Diego and able to attend the appointment shown above. If you would like to adopt and live outside of San Diego area, you are welcome to wait until his sterilization surgery has been completed to see if he is still available at that time.
If you would like to meet and possibly adopt this handsome boy, please complete an online adoption application at www.arwob.org. Don’t wait!
