Meet Rosco!
Mr. Handsome is looking for a foster or adoptive family as soon as this weekend (3/13/21)! We are looking for a foster local to the San Diego area. We are open to adopters outside of San Diego within a reasonable driving distance.
Rosco is 45 pounds and approximately 1-2 yrs old. WHO wants to start naming breeds, because we are surprised he is still with us! We think it’s likely the breeds we have selected for him, so send us your opinions on this handsome boy. If you took one look at that face and thought “My goodness, he is one perfect medium size handsome, funny, toy and walk oriented dog, who enjoys car rides and can be independent. He is also a social doggy, who is good with most dogs, but not the best with cats. He is of course going to need some doggy training to learn some manners, because he can be a little bratty.” If that is what pops into your head upon looking at Rosco, then you earn a star and hit it right out of the park!
Rosco also is not a barky dog, but he has THE cutest BIG bark when he “woofs.” He is crate trained and would be fine for a working individual, who would be gone for work as long as he gets regular exercise before and after work. He would be a great running or hiking partner and we can tell he is very smart, so he will learn his manners well with the proper training. We would not say he is fully house trained, but he does not go potty inside the house since he has access to the yard with his current foster. He is still young, so we would not trust him with shoes or other objects in the house, so when he is not supervised we would recommend that he stay in his crate until he can learn some “Doggy 101” etiquette and manners. Right now he is going through a phase of “everything is mine.” He isn’t exactly “resource guarding,” but he LOVES toys and will try to hoard them in the yard away from the other dogs. He will play tug of war with his toys, which is not a problem depending on which dog he is engaging with and if that dog wants the same toy. Sometimes he might push over the submissive pups and win the toy, so he needs to be monitored with toys until he learns the proper etiquette. Eighty percent of the time he will share his toys just fine, but the other 20% of the time he can be pushy.
If you have fostered or adopted from ARWOB before, just send us an e-mail or text and let us know you’d like to meet and possibly foster/adopt Rosco. If you are new to our group, please submit an application to adopt or foster online at www.arwob.org
