Tomas is 45-50lbs already full grown approx 1-2yrs of age.
handsome, active, sweet, outgoing, social and very playful boy.
He hasn't lived with cats unsupervised but we believe he will do well around them.
he loved dogs and to be their friends.
has not lived around children but likely very good around them.
he is crate trained, not house trained, he does well in car rides and enjoys them, he will need
an Adopter who can teach him good leash manners and other basic obedience. He loves to play in the yard wkrh fellow arwober dogs of all sizes and he is done with all medical and ready to be adopted.
ideal adopter is one with a fenced yard and another dog in the home or someone seeking for a dog who they will keep active and socialized with other dogs and people. Not a big barkee But when he barks, he deeply ha ha
Here is what Tomas' foster mom has to say about him:
"Tomas is a people pleaser, very sweet and wants to listen. He loves to run around the yard and chase the ball for a long time and play with his foster sister, Alina. He’s not very food motivated, but very human love motivated. Tomas knows sit, and shake (kind of haha) and he also knows how to drop the ball when you tell him to. He needs to learn how to walk on a leash."
ORIGINAL RESCUE STORY:
Tomas looks like a herding breed dog and we think he is possibly a Collie/Aussie mix (along with many other Baja mutt mixes). He is a very handsome boy, who was found as a stray in the streets of Ensenada. He was seen running down the street with another shepherd mix dog and when his rescuer approached, Tomas came to them (unfortunately the other dog ran away). The rescuers stayed and waited, looking for the other dog, but he was nowhere to be found. We are not sure if Tomas and the other dog were just friends who encountered each other while living on the streets, or if both dogs were owned by the same family. We suspect Tomas had a family prior to be found wandering, as he jumped right into his rescuer’s car. He looks well cared for, which is not indicative of a dog living on the street for a long time. After spending several days looking for Tomas’ owner, the rescuer took him in for adoption rather than taking him to the local dog pound.
Tomas is very active, goofy, and friendly. He is very social with people and other dogs. We do not know how he might be around cats, as he has not been tested with them. He is getting the hang of being in his crate, but he will definitely need some training. Although we think Tomas did have a previous owner, we are looking for an adopter who has the time and enthusiasm to provide him the basic training he will need to be the perfect family dog.
Since Tomas is a brand new ARWOB rescue, he will not be available for adoption until 2/19/21. This is because he will need to go through quarantine and his neuter surgery. We will be setting up “meet and greets” with Tomas as soon as Friday, 2/19/21. We recommend that if you are interested in this handsome guy, to submit an online adoption application at www.arwob.org. This will get the process started and if your application is approved, we will schedule a meet and greet for you. If the meet and greet session goes well, Tomas can be adopted that same day. Please note that we do not place holds on any of our rescues, therefore please do not apply unless you are available to meet Tomas as soon as 2/19/21.
