Meet Pierre and Marie!
We think these two siblings are a shepherd/pit bull/lab mix, but that’s our best guess. They will likely be in the large breed category, possibly reaching 55 pounds when full grown.
They were rescued by a fellow rescuer who lives in Tijuana. She noticed a man who was attaching some sort of rope to their neck and one of the puppies was trying to get away. She and her husband approached the man out of curiosity, being that he seemed to be acting oddly, and asked him if the puppies were his. He mentioned someone had given him the dogs to go to the “línea” border crossing to sell them while people in line wait to cross the border. He also had drug paraphernalia next to him, so they knew they had to act fast to take possession of the pups before they wound up in the wrong hands. They offered him some money and then took the puppies home. They were a bit dehydrated and starving, but not eating very well, so it was obviously they were too young to be away from mom. They were infested with parasites and had a couple of rough days with gastrointestinal issues and learning how to eat. Fast forward a week later and they were doing much better, getting stronger, and showing great energy levels.
The puppies have started their vaccine schedule, but their quarantine will not end until the first week of April. They will be available to meet potential adopters the weekend of 4/9/21. If all goes well with their meet and greet, they can potentially go home that day. However, they will be sterilized in the 92104 area of San Diego on Monday, April 12, 2021. Therefore, priority will given to local area applicants. This will ensure they are able to take them to the pre-scheduled surgery appointment and then pick them up at the end of the day after surgery. Please do NOT submit an application if you do not live in the San Diego area. If you would like to adopt and live outside of San Diego area, you are welcome to wait until their sterilization surgery has been completed to see if they are still available at that time (please note that we do not place holds on any of our rescues).
If you are interested in one of these cuties and do not mind waiting a few weeks to meet them, please submit an online adoption application at www.arwob.org. Don’t wait!
