Meet Duke!
Hello World! I'm Duke. I'm a 3 year old, male German Shepherd and I'm hoping to find my forever home soon. ARWOB agreed to put me on their website as a courtesy post so that we can find the perfect family for me!
I was found in a remote area, trapped, and taken to the Humane Society. Due to my severe, chronic ear infections, my left external ear was removed and a Total Ear Canal Ablation (TECA) was performed on both of my ears, leaving me hearing impaired. This surgery was done on January 22, 2022. Since then I've been healing and learning so much. I'm neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and I'm on flea/tick medication. I'm not taking any other medications.
My diminished hearing hasn't stopped me! I'm learning so quickly with my trainer. I can already sit and lay down! I can hear the "kissing sound" so I'm working on coming when called. I love to be loved, to be brushed and I will sometimes roll over for belly rubs. I enjoy playing with my toys and "searching" for treats. My foster mom says that there is nothing wrong with me and that I've come so far since my ear surgeries. I'm not aggressive, I don't have any separation anxiety and I don't bark at all! Some of my greatest qualities are: I get along with dogs and cats; I walk great on a leash and I don't pull on walks.
I am a sweet, intelligent boy. I will absolutely thrive in a home that is willing to "go slow with me" since I am still learning how to enjoy life. My foster mom would love to see my training continue and is willing to pay for an hour of training with my current trainer and my new family.
