Meet Clara aka Clarita!

UPDATE 1-22-23 (from Clarita's foster family):

"Clarita is a sweet, loving girl who loves to run around outside in the backyard. She is so speedy and can zip around quickly. She loves to be next to someone when she’s taking naps. She is either next to me on the couch or she snuggles up next to one of her furry friends in the house. Clarita will need lots of training and would do well in agility courses. She learns quickly also. She knows how to sit but is not completely potty trained at this point, but getting close. Clarita will make a great family member who is willing to invest the time in her training."

ORIGINAL RESCUE STORY:

This little beauty was rescued as a singleton from the streets of Baja in Ensenada. She was spotted running around with a large pack of dogs searching for food. When they were approached everyone scattered except for Clarita, who came running to the humans and jumped in their arms. She was all “licky face” and began smelling their sweater pockets for the food. This little girl was starving. Since she was rescued back in November she has put on 4 pounds and is now 9 pounds (you can imagine how skinny this poor baby was). Clarita is now at a healthy, normal weight and we estimate her age between 5-6 months. This means she could reach 20 pounds when full grown, but will likely grow to be in the 15-18 pound range.

Clarita is a smart active pup, who is very cuddly and loving. She is very social with people and is currently fostered with 2 large breed dogs (a couple of ARWOB pups) and her foster family has 2 young boys whom she adores. She is energetic, so she would love a dog park or doggy day care life style. Even better, she would love someone who enjoys being active, like running or hiking, and she also enjoys cuddle time. She would equally enjoy being a house dog, as long as her family keeps her entertained and has a large yard so she can play and run around.

Being that Clarita is a Baja blend, we don't know her exact breed.  Given her looks and small size, we think she likely has Terrier and Chihuahua mix in her DNA.

This girl is healthy, has been quarantined, and has had her second set of puppy vaccines.  Her spay appointment is scheduled for 1/23/23 in the North Park area (92104). She is ready to meet with adopters as soon as 1/7/23 and she is able to go home right away, as long as her adopter is able to bring her in for her spay appointment.  Otherwise please don't apply for Clarita, as her spay appointment date is NOT negotiable. Clarita is available to adopt, foster, or foster to adopt trial. Please complete an online application at www.arwob.org
