Meet Joey!
Have you seen a cuter boy before?! Well, I am sure you have….we all have….but currently, we are big time BIAS! We adore little Joe aka joey
Joe was rescued off the streets of Ensenada Mexico in March when he was noticed by a rescuer who had gone grocery shopping and noticed a lady who was approaching the store with several adult dogs following her and a little one just happy as can be excited about life zig zagging about the pack. The lady entered the store and the adult dogs stayed patiently and calmly waiting for her while the little one was unfortunately getting into danger with traffic in and out of the busy street. The rescuer intercepted him and waited for the ‘owner’ as it turned out when she came out and they both spoke the pup was a stray who had just joined her pack while walking. She asked if we could help with him and of course his rescuer could not say no. Off Joe went into quarantine and for a MUCH-needed medicated bath as he was infected with fleas and some ticks. Fast forward quarantine and medical he is NOW ready for adoption. He is going to be a small breed dog likely in the 20–25-pound range when full grown. We don’t know his breed but likely has chihuahua, poodle, shepherd, terrier, Pitbull and French bull dog….we are kidding! BUT honestly, Baja dogs are the MOST mutty mutts around and huge super mutts so anything goes. We are looking for an adopter who is looking to adopt a small breed dog who is a total sweetheart and of course very handsome. We could say he is a terrier to qualify all breeds, but he does look like a mini itty-bitty shepherd but likely has several small breeds in him too. Currently Joe is fostered by an amazing new foster family for ARWOB which includes 2 loving adults, 2 small children, a couple of feline indoor family foster siblings and a handsome large breed GSD adult male who is taking him on to show him the ropes. OH, and how can we forget a adorable 100 pound pig who has his own corral and Joe finds fascinating!
Joe is available for adoption, and we are looking for an adopter who WILL enroll in dog training because any good dog owner SHOULD and mostly because as cuddly as he is, he is a pup who will be a teen soon and needs to learn to be a well behaved boiii. He may be small but he is an active READY to explore and exercise pup…..along with lots of cuddle and napping time.
Here is what his foster mom has to say about Joe:
Good morning and happy Friday! Things are going great with Mr. Joe! Joe is getting better and better every day. He’s great with crate, leash and potty training. He very rarely has accidents. He’s learning not to jump on the kids and is obviously very much teething but is learning by redirecting to his toys. My son is enjoying teaching him tricks. So far, he has learned to sit but they are working on more lol. He LOVES to play tug-a-war and chew on his toys. He keeps himself entertained with his chew. Moo (the pig) could careless about Joe and Joe could care less about Moo They have met at the fence a few times and carried on with their business. Balto and Joe enjoy playing together and get along great. Joe follows Balto and my 9 year old around everywhere, it’s very cute. He hasn’t had the urge to go stealth mode or escape in any way so that is also great. Just an update, for now we are still set on fostering only mode to continue to help other dogs in the future, so if a great adopter comes along, we are willing to let Joe go to his new home In the meantime, we are enjoying every day with him and are happy to help!
Want to meet this handsome boy?! Don't delay and submit a dog adoption application TODAY! We will email or text you to schedule a 10-15min phone interview and hopefully a meet as soon as 4/13!
