Meet Pia! She is a happy, go-lucky 1-year-old Lab/ Retriever mix who weighs about 40 lbs. She was found in March lying on the corner of a street in Mexico. When we approached her, she evidently had been hit by a car as she had a lesion on her head and her right front paw was injured. Her paw has completely healed since then and although her paw and toes are deformed, she feels absolutely no pain and can walk and run on it just fine. She acts like nothing is wrong! A spirited, young, and adventurous girl like her won't be held back when her whole life is still ahead of her. She has also seen a vet and he has determined that she feels no pain what-so-ever and an amputation is, therefore, completely unnecessary. However, if her adopter finds that aesthetically they would prefer to amputate the leg it would be up to THEM and THEIR veterinarian.
Pia is just your normal dog. She is such a sweetheart! She gets along well with all creatures big and small, even a ferret that belonged to the person in the foster home she lived in when she was still in Mexico. She LOVES people and will approach them asking for pets and love. She also LOVES belly rubs and will rub up against you asking for more if you get her started. She is an absolute joy to be around and wants to find her forever home so badly. We cannot understand why she is still with us! Please, please consider this girl. She would make an excellent companion. She still likes to go out on her walks and will walk, even run, for a little bit with you. Obviously, she will get tired quickly but nothing holds her back really. She would still also love to go on visits to dog park and just on outtings in general.
