Lucia looks like a mini Newfoundland and was rescued off the streets of Tijuana. As a street rescue we can't definitively pinpoint her exact mix of breeds, so we consider her a black lab/shep/boxer mix. She was rescued late May when a Good Samaritan was observing a mama dog and her 3 pups playing off/on a highly trafficked street. Fearing the family would be injured, she went home and returned with a crate ready to rescue them from living on the street. As she was loading up the pups, a 4th pup (not related to the others) appeared out of nowhere. This was Lucia. Her guardian angel must have guided her to that particular spot knowing there was help around the corner. Lucky Lucia came on board and was rescued with the other three pups: Tania, Ania and Katia. All four girls are being fostered together and Lucia, who is larger and two months older than the other three, has taken on the role of "Big Sis”.
Unfortunately we couldn't rescue Katia, Tania and Ania's mom because we found out she actually belonged to someone, but the Good Samaritan will be keeping an eye on her to make sure she is spayed and cared for. If the time comes, she may be joining the ARWOB group. The mom has a sweet disposition, is some sort of shep/lab mix, and is about 45 pounds full grown.
