Benji has a very sad story with a very happy ending and we hope to be able to help Benji, improve his story even further!
Benji was rescued March 2013 (almost a year back) when he was not even 2 months old. Within the first few days Benji showed clinical symptoms of Parvovirus and was diagnosed with Parvo as well as treated for 10 long days. The poor little guy was not only malnurished and parasite infested when he was found but he also had to fight that horrible disease. It was a LONG battle but Benji pulled through and slowly recovered. Because he wasnt able to be adopted right away he lingered in a veterinary clinic and when he was strong enough and it was safe to have him adopted he was moved to a foster home.
Saddly during one of the outings to the dog park Benji acquired kennel cough which then actually progressed so fast that he then got a seconday infection and pneumonia. The vet took him home and nursed this poor guy back to health but that took another 2 months. Poor little guy it took him almost half his life to be able to be ready for adoption. BUT he is a fighter and he is now ready for adoption!
Benji has been available for a long time however, he is still waiting patiently for a loving family.
Benji is active and could be a great running partner and hiking partner and of course rides very well in the car and is great in the crate.
Because of all the medication he was on as a young pup his teeth are stained but he is a very sturdy and healthy young dog who might show very shy when he first meet strangers as he is stil learning about the "outside" world. As you can imagine he was secluded for most of his life and hence missed the key period to learn to socialize BUT he LOVES dogs and people alike, he will just need time and exposure to new things.
Would you please help Benji have a better happy ending? He is alive and doing great BUT he really wants a family to call his own. He has had enough with boarding and would love to learn what a family is all about.
