Popeye was rescued along with a few other kittens from a feral cat colony in Tijuana. Mexico early in June.
Sadly, the little 500gram kitten had a very infected traumatic injury to his left eye and while the independent rescuer tried to do right for the kitten by taking it to a local veterinarian in TJ, the poor baby was only receiving a medication for it without pain meds and, of course ,the right medical treatment. An ARWOB volunteer saw his little picture on FB and knew the little guy needed to come to ARWOB for better treatment and care where he can be tended to and eliminate any pain and discomfort he was fighting. Once he arrived, he was taken to the specialty eye clinic and he was diagnosed with an infected corneal abscess wich caused his iris to prolapse and have secondary glaucoma on the eye. Meaning, the eye had to GO!
Popeye is scheduled to go under surgery to have his eye enucleated 6/18 and we are hoping we can find someone who can sponsor his surgery. For now, he is being fostered as the only kitten with a loving foster in Fashion Valley and he has ZERO remnants of being feral. Hee will meow for attention and, like a pup, will show you his belly for belly rubs. There is NO stopping this little warrior!
