Meet Romeo & Juliet!

Romeo & Juliet were relinquished by a family who had owned them since they were puppies.  They were neglected and never really cared for properly.  They are under-socialized, although Romeo is pretty friendly and social around people.  However, Juliet is fairly shy and weary of people. She is hard to approach, but with time and trust she does come around.  She is pretty dependent on Romeo and follows him everywhere, so she depends on him for guidance.  Hence, both Romeo and Juliet will need to be adopted together.

We have some pictures from when they were first relinquished to us, which shows how their potential coat will look.  Being that they are a Bichon/Poodle mix, they will have certain grooming requirements to avoid becoming matted.  At this time they are fully shave down, as they were severely matted when we took them in and we had to have their coats cut very short.  We can say that they certainly have more of the Bichon curly hair than a Poodle.  They are also pretty long-legged and Romeo is a bit overweight.  They would be considered bigger Poodles, but still under 30 pounds, as they stand almost knee high.

We do not know how they will be around cats.  They are good with most dogs, but they have been a little reactive to larger dogs (i.e. they will bark at them together).  They do well in the car and have learned to walk on a leash.

They are both healthy, yet older adult dogs.  Since they are almost senior pups, they will need a dental done for both of them.  Unfortunately, at this time ARWOB is unable to get the dental services done prior to their adoptions.  This is due to the lack of availability for elective veterinarian procedures.  Hence, their adoption fee for both (as a bonded pair) is $100.

Currently we have them in a boarding kennel.  We do have some observations from a volunteer, who took them home for the holiday weekend and learned the following about them:

Pros:

Very loving
Barking is very minimal
Love to cuddle and be held
Trained to go outside to use the bathroom
Gets along with other dogs

Cons:

They can be selective with males (this was not a problem for the female volunteer who took them home over the holiday weekend)

To meet these 2 adorable pups, please submit an online application at arwob.org
